Is moving the Tank something one of us could do with a bit of tuition?

Not impossible but better if you understand the system well.
It does not have a hand brake on the old model Argo I have used so a large rock or make sure it is parked on a level area is the best bet.
I think it best to wait and see who and how many will be going and sort it out closer to the date.

Ok the AGS lads have been very helpfull with information on differant ways to do minefeilds. I'll post up more about this in the next couple of days as a bit knackered now after the Crete game.

OK first up is Boshmans mines, these are a thing of beauty. Made from 5 sections of MDF sandwiched together, they have a pvc pipe fitting for a lid which has to be unscrewed, inside is a switch that deactivates it. In the middle of the mdf sandwich is a strip of draft excluder and a pressure switch so any pressure on the top of the mine will set it of. Also there is a switch at the bottom so if the mine is lifted without being diffused it will go off. At the base of the mine is a speaker connector and a small recessed area for a MK 3 maroon. Bosh has one of these set up so it goes off when you unscrew the lid just to keep people on their toes.

Although they can function as a mine by pressure on the top the main reason for them is to give engineers something to do. Im certainly up for building some of these.-- attachment is not available ---- attachment is not available ---- attachment is not available --

Another option is the way Gordon did his, he simply had one fully made up mine in plain sight and several "pronged tops" sticking out of the ground. nothing explodes but they threw in a flashbang when people walked into the minefeild, after that they had to use bayonets to clear a path through, or use his bangalor torpedo to clear the path. Simple but still effective when the area has barbed wire and mine signage.-- attachment is not available --

Now the bangalor torpedo was a great idea, made from plastic waste pipe and joiners at the end of one it has a section of cardboard from a kitchen towel role with a maroon in it, assemble it as in Private Ryan then activate from the far end to blow the Maroon. great for clearing barbed wire and mines.-- attachment is not available ---- attachment is not available --

I am not sure what the site is like for digging on, I would think some of the low areas could be ok.
If you want to have a go I am ok with it & they can be re-used.

I was thinking of an audible electronic explosion and alarm in some way to keep cost down on pyro charges.
Hiding wires would only work in long grass or areas you can hide the wire easy.

These are what I have made and still have about.
A hidden system could be made by fitting the unit in a push on top biscuit tin to bury. Once the blank went off the tin lid may fly up in the air due to the pressure from the blank the barrel of the unit could be pushed into a vented tube in the base tin and have flower etc in it so it blows into the air.

A great idea at crete was an unexploded bomb. Although Gordons did not go off, there was a fuse that had to be unscrewed and a wire to cut to diffuse it. Now I thought we could have a couple of these (but rigged with maroons) on the initial German position. I will tell the Germans we had to abandon our forward position the previous night because of a heavy allied bombing raid and that now we are leaving our bunkers where we have spent the night to retake our positions. Unfortunately there may be some unexploded bombs so first they will have to form a line and sweep the area. When the bombs have been located they fall back and the engineers move in. Once the bombs have been deactivated we move back in and start setting up our defences.Perhaps the allies may have to clear aminefeild near the copse to secure their jump off position. That way both sides have some engineering tasks at the start of the day and of course they can be reused later in the game. Also it all helps give time for the 34th to get in position.-- attachment is not available --

The mines can be buried but normally they are left on the top of the ground as an objective for engineers to clear, there are quite a few lads who like this role and it gives them something to do. Another task is often to blow up captured artillery peices (AT gun?) they put a maroon in the top of thebarrel and from a safe distance detonate it.

Your charges will be great for sound effects and atmosphere but dont give tasks for engineers, perhaps a combination.

On a differant subject I was talking to some lads at Crete about Josh's game being cancelled and one thing that was noticed was the lack of activity on the forum about the game. I think we need to keep posting teasers/info to keep the game in peoples minds.

Also I know there was talk of a discount for people attending for one day only, I know Martin can only make saturday, can we offer a general discount for people who attend just the saturday, in a recent pole on the forum half the people who replied said they can only make one day games. £45 is a lot if people only come the one day.

Yes the price for 1 day is £25 and Taffy has agreed to that.
The problem is I was keeping it off the forum as it would make most people only come for 1 day.
Alex was against this as it would become a 1 day game when it was planned to be 2.

However it does seem to be the case that most can only do Saturday.

I have tried not to post too much on the event section myself as it starts to look like I am the only person there, so feel free to slip teasers in. I have posted about the tank & gun in the rules to stir interest this week.

Yes I understand Alex's thinking, although many now a days can either only do a saturday or a sunday because of work or family commitments. As your planning to run a full day on sunday it may even mean that some will book on for just the sunday if it is advertised as such. Personally I would rather have a good turn out for the saturday and deal with any problems of low numbers on the sunday. The quarry site and the token system should help us balance things.

Yes sorry mate you have done very well with updates so far, it wasnt meant as a critisism of you. Just that we need to keep the threads active to encourage people.

Ive been sounding several people out over the weekend, I think its to far for many down south to travel but there seems to be some interest, a couple of lads from somerset may well book on they loved the idea of a night scenario, also there were several others mainly German considering it. Also seeing a few lads tonight who I may be able to get to book on as German :good:

Nigel are you happy for me post up a thread about engineers, it will be very general to wet the apitite, no details about plans and will be a chance to recruit 2 engineers per side?

Have you looked into buying pyro, I got some in for Anarchy but gave it all to Porta to use. Not sure if the law has changed on buying the stuff.
Maybe Taffy can get it in as the funds will paypal to him direct.

I think it depends what your after, I believe the 2 stage pyro's for morta's can only be purchased by game organizers. For the mines and bangalors they only need maroons which can be purchased from: 'http://www.socomtactical.net/airsoft-accessories-ammo/pyros-and-grenades', or TLSFx. Ill just use Mk3 maroons on the mines as people are up close diffusing them.
